Mental Health Counseling

Unquestionably, stress, burnout, tension, anxiety, depression and other issues that can wreak havoc on people's lives are on the rise, especially in today's tough economic times.  Are you alone out there?  No.  In fact, recent studies from the National Institute on Mental Health revealed that one out of every four adults in this nation suffer from a diagnosable and treatable mental health condition.  Their research even revealed that one out of every twenty children between the ages of 4 and 17 also experience emotional or behavioral difficulties.  Mental health counseling is a much needed service to help provide healing and restoration to a hurting world. Getting the right help is so important. Getting help that is from a Christian counselor is also very important.  If you think Christians do not deal with issues such as those mentioned above, you are wrong.  In fact, the Lord knows the very problems that each of us face and wants to help us deal with these.  Psalms 147:3 is clear: "He (the Lord) heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds."  The two Hebrew words that are translated as brokenhearted are (שָׁבַר לֵב) which literally mean "crushed" and "feelings" The Hebrew word for "wounds" (עַצֶּבֶת) does not mean physical injuries, but refers to those who are afflicted with grief, sorrows, and troubles. The reference is to mental sorrows; to a troubled spirit; to a heart made sad in any way. By reading the Psalms, it is clear that even David, described as a man after God's own heart, struggled at times with depression.  The Lord knew his heart and desired restoration and healing for him.  Here at the Counseling Connection, clients receive the support they need from a Christian perspective, guiding them though the troubled waters to find healing and restoration.
