Educational Counseling from GED to Ph.D.

The co-founder of the Counseling Connection, Inc., Tim Scoggins, is also the founder and CEO of the National College Counseling Center. When we say that there is no better source for us to connect clients to for educational counseling than the National College Counseling Center, you will agree after you see what we offer to those served:

First, the National College Counseling Center serve as advocates for the students that we support, not conduits to provide leads to college recruiters.  Surf the web and you will find dozens of other sites that offer "free" counseling to help students find degrees at a distance. What you do not know is that those sites do not have the technology that we have to help systematically identify the right degrees for students to consider.  In fact, they are simply in the business of luring prospective students into submitting their contact information and then sell that information to colleges and universities willing to pay for the leads.  The National College Counseling Center does not get paid by the colleges for referring students.  We are funded by the clients or students that we serve and, as such, serve their best interests, not the colleges' best interests.

What is the technology that we mentioned in the previous paragraph that makes us unique?  We invented the state-of-the-art automated degree planning system (for which we have been awarded 34 patented processes by the USPTO), which we now call Degree Quest.  With Degree Quest, the staff of the National College Counseling Center can build an electronic education record for a student that includes every potential source of credit, including transfer credit from accredited colleges and universities and non-traditional credit (such as college credit for military training, professional training at corporations and government agencies, college credit-by-examination, credit for professional licenses and certifications, and more). Then, with the click of a button, we can merge the electronic education record for the student into thousands of degrees from hundreds of colleges and universities across the nation.  Our system is designed to show us the ones which appear to maximize the application of credit that the student has already earned, thereby enabling us to present to the student optimal choices to consider based on his or her unique academic accomplishments, needs, goals, and desires.  Students receive degree plans that average 6 to 10 pages in length which present in an easy-to-understand manner the information they need to know to follow the pathway to the degree desired.

We use our state-of-the-art Degree Quest system to systematically identify which of the thousands of degrees best match each students' unique academic accomplishments, needs, goals, and desires, but degree planning is only the beginning of the support we provide our students.  High tech without high touch is ineffective.  If you look at the top of our logo, the word that is centered is what we are all about - Counseling.  We provide students with expert guidance and a wealth of resources that save time and money, enabling them to accelerate their progress to a degree, while enhancing their success along the way.

Our students also are given a login and password to access our advanced student support website, the Higher Education Resource Connection (HERC).  On the HERC website they have more than 1,000 resources presented that can assist them in their pursuit of a degree, including:

  • Hundreds of tuition-free courses from many of the best universities in the nation which can help prepare students to earn college credit by challenging national examinations.  In fact, there are approximately 300 semester hours of subjects from which to choose, including nearly a hundred Hollywood-style video courses digitally streamed on the web.
  • Need free academic tutoring?  Surf through more than 36,000 college courses online to see how other professors teach the subject in which you need help.  Their method of instruction may be just what you need to pull your grade up in the course you are taking at your college or university.
  • Need financial aid for higher education?  We link students to more than 75 sites with search engines that match profiles of prospective students to sources of scholarships and grants, with billions of dollars in financial aid being distributed by the sources to whom they refer the students.
  • Textbooks can always be expensive for students, yet our students can access nearly two dozen links to providers of discount and used textbooks, textbook rental sources, and e-book downloading sites enabling them to spend pennies on the dollar for their books.

These are just a few of the many resources our students use on HERC.  The National College Counseling Center has served corporations and government agencies since 2000, currently providing support to more than 1.2 million employees of the clients served across the nation and around the world.  We welcome the opportunity to serve you, as well.  Feel free to send us e-mail at support@counselingconnection.us
